Demand Transparency and Accountability in HHS Transgender Health Care Review

To: Sen. Peters, Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Walberg

From: A constituent in Stevensville, MI

November 21

I am deeply concerned about the recent Health and Human Services review on transgender health care, which appears to be a politically motivated attack on the rights and well-being of transgender individuals. This report, commissioned by a January executive order from the Trump administration, has been revealed to be authored by individuals with clear anti-LGBTQ biases and no expertise in transgender health care. The integrity of our government's health policies is at stake. The authors of this report include members of recognized hate groups, beneficiaries of dark money, and career anti-trans activists. Shockingly, not a single transgender person or experienced medical professional in transgender care was included in the authorship or peer review process. This blatant exclusion of relevant expertise raises serious questions about the report's credibility and intentions. Mainstream medical organizations have rightfully rejected this report due to its flawed methodology and biased sourcing. It's alarming that such a document, which opposes gender-affirming care despite overwhelming scientific consensus supporting its efficacy, could be used to influence policy decisions affecting millions of Americans. I urge you to take immediate action to address this issue. We need a thorough investigation into the commissioning and creation of this report. Those responsible for appointing biased individuals to produce what amounts to propaganda disguised as science must be held accountable. Furthermore, I ask that you support efforts to ensure that future health policy reviews are conducted by qualified, unbiased experts who rely on peer-reviewed research and established medical consensus. The health and rights of transgender individuals are not political bargaining chips. They deserve access to safe, effective, and scientifically-supported health care. Please stand up against this attempt to use government resources to spread misinformation and discriminate against a vulnerable population. Our constituents deserve better than policies based on prejudice and pseudoscience.
