Trump/Blanche Regime Subverts the Scales of Justice
I am writing to express my disgust over reports detailing the Department of Justice’s decision to block civil rights charges against ICE agent Christian Castro. Castro fired through a closed residential door, wounding Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis, and subsequently submitted false statements about the encounter.
The Department of Justice exists to represent the American people and uphold the impartial rule of law. It is not to function as a protection racket for Donald Trump, his administration, or his enforcement squads. When Main Justice overrides a line prosecutor's explicit objections to downgrading severe civil rights violations into minor infraction claims, it actively shirks its duty in the federal legal system.
Shielding federal officers from meaningful accountability creates impunity. Allowing political directives to dictate prosecutorial decisions degrades the integrity of our institutions and signals that government agents operate above the law.
Exercise Congress' oversight authority to investigate political interference within the DOJ, demand transparency regarding Main Justice's decision-making process, and restore equal justice under the law.
