An alarming 90% of migrants deported from the United States to the torture prison in El Salvador have no criminal record whatsoever. This statistic alone demands immediate action to halt these unjust and indiscriminate deportations. The case of 19-year-old Merwil Gutiérrez, taken from outside his home in the Bronx despite an ICE agent acknowledging he was not the intended target, epitomizes the blatant disregard for due process and human rights. When another agent callously responded "Take him anyway," it underscores the dehumanizing and discriminatory nature of these raids. Such egregious violations of civil liberties cannot be tolerated in a society that purports to uphold justice and equality. We must urgently stop these ICE raids that unjustly target and terrorize immigrant communities. Instead of perpetuating policies rooted in xenophobia, we need comprehensive immigration reform that treats all human beings with the dignity and respect they deserve.
