I'm writing to ask you to oppose age verification laws. These laws are not only censorious and ineffective, but also endanger the privacy of millions of Americans by forcing them to upload their sensitive data to insecure software used for verification. This results in hacking, scamming, and exploitation of vulnerable parties who input this information. It's shameful that while children are being deported, removed from cancer treatment, and separated from their parents by ICE without due process, lawmakers are more concerned about explicit cartoons and books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters. While kids are more likely than ever to experience outbreaks of polio, measles, famine and poverty due to farmers being bankrupted by tariffs, and from being blocked from buying food by politicians who are scared some low-income families are buying sodas, candy and snacks with SNAP benefits, lawmakers in Arizona, Texas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Georgia, Utah, Nebraska, Idaho, Iowa, and Colorado are too busy with trying to figure out what everyone's porn history looks like on the Internet. This is, quite frankly, embarrassing and dismaying, because it shows you are willing to look the other way while children are being sexually abused and groomed at churches and religious centers along with schools. The Anti-pornography movement has more than its fair share of sexual abusers and yet they still continue to hold sway in antiporn circles, their true reasons for censorship never questioned in their ranks until they arrested. Even then, they march in, crying about the children their sponsored laws fail to protect from real threats.
