SNAP feeds at least 750,000 Tennessee households on average per month: 71% of these families have children, 35% are senior citizens & individuals with disabilities, and 37% are working citizens. Half of all children and half of all births are covered by Tennessee's Medicaid program. The majority of children with special health care needs rely on TennCare for their coverage. TennCare pays for school-based mental health services for children that have individualized plans, such as lEPs, for their academic achievement. Four out of seven nursing home residents in Tennessee rely on Medicaid. The principal source of health care coverage in Tennessee's rural communities is Medicaid. Cuts to Medicaid and SNAP don't just reduce numbers on a budget - they devastate real families in need of healthcare, and healthy food. Please protect these social services that we, your constituents , depend on
