I am deeply troubled about all the people - including children - who are stuck in detention, who very likely have committed no crimes, who are being denied basic human rights and needs including healthcare. The story of little Liam from Mpls got loads of attention and now he and his father are, deservedly, home where they belong. BUT WHAT ABOUT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS?
Today I am writing to ask you, what are you doing to help people who have been imprisoned in these DHS/ICE detention centers and camps? Are you working to help them get free? Where are the lawyers for them? Where are the planes to take them home? It's very obvious that the Trump administration plans to keep on detaining thousands of people, and they do not care who they detain. They just want big numbers - terrifying numbers. This has to stop.
