I’m writing to urge your support for legislation requiring companies to take responsibility for the end-of-life management of their products and to advocate for funding a comprehensive national recycling program.
Currently, the United States recycles only 5%-6% of its plastic waste, leaving the majority to pollute our landfills and oceans. This dismal recycling rate underscores the urgent need for stronger waste management strategies and corporate accountability to reduce environmental harm.
By holding companies accountable for the lifecycle of their products and investing in a national recycling infrastructure, we can reduce waste, create green jobs, and protect our planet for future generations with a circular and responsible economy.
I kindly ask for your leadership on this pressing issue.
