Thank You for Supporting Action on the Housing Crisis

To: Sen. Schumer, Sen. Gillibrand

From: A constituent in Brooklyn, NY

March 13

I am writing to express my appreciation for your support of the bipartisan housing legislation sponsored by Senator Elizabeth Warren that passed the Senate this week. For far too long, the housing crisis has been one of the most urgent and widely felt challenges facing Americans. Across the country—and especially here in New York—families are struggling with rising rents, limited housing supply, and the growing fear that stable, affordable housing is slipping out of reach. In many communities, housing costs are now the single greatest pressure on household finances. It is encouraging to see the Senate finally take meaningful steps to address this crisis. The fact that this legislation advanced with bipartisan support is particularly important. Housing affordability should not be a partisan issue. It affects families in every state and community, and it requires serious cooperation to address the scale of the problem. This bill represents an important step toward expanding housing supply and addressing the structural barriers that have made it so difficult to build the homes Americans need. While much more work remains to fully address the housing crisis, progress like this matters. It shows that Congress can respond to the concerns that Americans consistently raise about affordability and economic stability. Thank you for supporting this effort and for working to move forward on one of the most pressing challenges facing the country today.
