I am writing to urge you to take immediate action against the mass ICE raids currently being conducted in cities across the country. These large-scale enforcement operations are creating fear and chaos in our communities, making people afraid to access basic services like healthcare, education, and public safety resources.
When families are too frightened to take their children to school, seek medical care, or report crimes to law enforcement, our entire community becomes less safe. These raids do not enhance public safety. Instead, they undermine the trust between residents and institutions that communities depend on to function.
I am asking you to take four specific actions. First, demand that the Trump administration immediately halt these large-scale enforcement operations. Second, use your oversight authority to expose the devastating impact these raids are having on families and communities. Third, partner with local advocacy and legal services organizations to support community members who are facing detention or removal. Fourth, create public forums where impacted community members can share their stories and be heard by their elected representatives.
Beyond opposing these current mass raids, I urge you to support the abolition of ICE entirely. The agency has consistently demonstrated that its enforcement model prioritizes fear and family separation over genuine public safety. Communities deserve an immigration system that treats people with dignity and does not terrorize residents going about their daily lives.
Your constituents need you to stand up against these harmful policies now. I expect you to use every tool available to you in Congress to stop these raids, protect our neighbors, and work toward dismantling an agency that has caused immeasurable harm to families across this country.
