This is a blunt reminder of something you swore an oath to uphold: the United States Constitution is not a suggestion, not a loophole, and not something to be ignored when it becomes politically inconvenient.
The 22nd Amendment is crystal clear. A president may serve no more than two terms. Donald Trump is constitutionally barred from running for or serving another term. There is no ambiguity. There is no “creative interpretation.” There is no legal escape hatch. The language is plain, settled, and binding.
And yet here we are—watching dangerous rhetoric, normalization, and silence from people who know better.
Your silence is not neutrality.
Your inaction is not caution.
It is dereliction of duty.
The 22nd Amendment exists precisely to prevent the consolidation of power, the erosion of democratic norms, and the rise of strongman politics. Ignoring it undermines the very foundation of our republic and tells the world that the United States only follows the rule of law when it is convenient.
Congress does not get to look away and hope the problem solves itself. You are not spectators. You are a co-equal branch of government with a constitutional obligation to act.
The American people should not have to wonder whether their elected representatives will defend the Constitution or quietly allow it to be shredded for political expediency. This is not a partisan issue. This is not about personalities. This is about the rule of law.
Say it clearly.
Say it publicly.
Say it often.
Donald Trump cannot run again. The Constitution forbids it. And Congress must stop pretending that enforcement is optional.
History will remember who stood up for the Constitution—and who stayed silent while it was challenged.
Do your job. Follow the Constitution!
