I am writing to you to ask you to truly listen to the American people who participated in No Kings Day protests across the country. This was not a small or isolated event. It was one of the largest nationwide demonstrations in recent history, and the scale of it deserves your attention. On No Kings Day, there were more than 3,100 demonstrations across the United States, with more than 8 million people showing up to protest. That is not a small group of people. That is not something that should be ignored, minimized, or dismissed. That is millions of Americans exercising their constitutional right to peacefully assemble because they feel they are not being heard. These protests took place across the entire country — in major cities like New York City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, and Philadelphia, but also in smaller cities and towns across many states. This was not just one political group, one region, or one type of community. This was nationwide. When protests happen in thousands of locations across the country at the same time, that means something is happening at a national level that people want their leaders to pay attention to. You do not have to agree with every sign, every chant, or every person who attended. But as a member of Congress, you should care when millions of people feel strongly enough to show up in the streets across the entire country. That is part of your job — to listen to the people you represent, even when it is inconvenient, even when it is uncomfortable, and even when you disagree. More than 8 million people showed up across more than 3,100 demonstrations to send a message. The least Congress can do is listen. Please take these protests seriously. Please listen to your constituents. Please remember that you were elected to represent the people, not rule over them.
