No detention centers here

I just saw on the news that Nebraska is being considered for a concentration camp. Our current immigration system is broken. We already are seeing the terrible impacts from ICE raids on our state. We don’t need to also have a concentration camp. Having a detention center will only make it harder to fill jobs that residents don’t want. Having a detention center puts us on the wrong side of history. Having a detention center will cost us money that we need to go to schools and hospitals instead. Instead, we need to educate employers on how to be a sponsor to help their employees to be legal immigrants. If more employers did the right thing by helping their employees, then we wouldn’t have such an issue. Nebraska can be the voice of reason in this critical time. We can use due process instead of building a facility that will allow for due process to be ignored. The main difference between a concentration camp and a jail is due process. To detain people going to school and work is not taking dangerous criminals off of the streets. It is removing law abiding people from their communities. Hard working people. Please use your power and your voice to keep such a facility out of our great state. Please use your voice and your power for educating employers to do better for their employees.
