Abolish ICE — The Pattern of Abuse Cannot Be Fixed With Training

Abolish ICE. Amnesty International just released a report documenting unlawful killings, racial profiling, and inhumane detention conditions — and concluded that these aren't policy failures that can be trained away. They are foundational to how the agency operates. This is the first time in its history that Amnesty International has called for any government agency in any country to be disbanded. That should tell you something. The specifics are damning. A 20-year-old U.S. citizen of Somali descent was detained in Minneapolis after agents refused to check his passport. A pregnant Indigenous woman had her car window smashed at gunpoint. A woman named Sofia, with a pending asylum claim, was arrested without a warrant, denied the right to call someone to care for her children, and held for over a month. Researchers identified three killings they say may amount to extrajudicial executions under international law. These are not edge cases — they are the pattern. Piecemeal reform is not the answer here. The agency was built on enforcement practices that are now producing what Amnesty International calls potential torture. I want you to support abolishing ICE and replacing it with an immigration system that respects due process and human rights.
