I am writing to express my concerns about H Rept 119-106, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and asking you to not pass this bill during your upcoming session. Raising a family is expensive. A recent poll found that 8 in 10 Georgia parents struggled to pay for necessities like food, utilities, health care, and rent. According to the Georgia Health Imitative, over 2 million Georgia residents are enrolled in Medicaid, with 72% enrollees being 65 or older and nursing home residents. 19% of enrollees in rural areas with lack of access to adequate, nearby providers. As rising costs of healthcare and other necessities further these burdens, it is critical to ensure funding and secure care for our vulnerable children and aging adult population. Another point on the One Big Beautiful Bill is federal SNAP budget cuts. Over 1.3 million Georgian’s utilize food assistance programs, with over 900,000 being children whose family qualified for benefits. Numerous research studies conclude how beneficial and vital proper nutrition is to every person in the early stages of life. Inadequate vitamin and nutrient intake during childhood can have lasting effects on lifelong health and development. Supporters of the Big Beautiful Bill claim this bill will benefit the majority in this country, but this will hurt working, middle class families, and had trillions of dollars to our national debt. This bill will only help rich corporations and your priority should be advocating for hardworking Georgians dealing with the effects of rising costs and protecting our state’s most precious asset - our people. In closing, I would ask that you not vote to affirm H Rept 119-106. As a hard-working individual, you should see the need to support children and their families from the earliest stages of life to well after their well-earned retirement and foster healthy, thriving Georgia residents. Thank you for your time and attention today regarding this matter.
