Block Trump's Plan to Demolish the Kennedy Center

To: Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray, Rep. DelBene, Pres. Trump

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

September 18

Stop the demolition of the Kennedy Center. Trump has said it will "end up being ripped down" because he's been blocked from putting his name on it. A photograph of him on Air Force One reviewing demolition plans tells us exactly what he intends. You need to act now to prevent it. The Kennedy Center has served Washington residents and visitors for over 50 years. It honors a president who risked his life in war and died in service to this country. This isn't just a building — it's a living tribute to President Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, who championed the arts and shaped the cultural identity of this nation. Trump already tore out the Rose Garden she designed and demolished the East Wing of the White House. The Kennedy Center cannot be next. Use every legislative and legal tool available to protect this landmark. Introduce or co-sponsor legislation that bars the use of federal funds for its demolition. Hold hearings. Make noise. We were caught off guard when the excavators hit the East Wing. This time we have been warned, and that means we have no excuse for inaction.
