Swear-in newly elected representative Adelita Grijalva

To: Sen. Luján, Sen. Heinrich, Rep. Stansbury

From: A constituent in Albuquerque, NM

October 8

I am writing to you very frightened about the state of our country. How are we supposed to keep faith that future elections matter or our voices will be heard? Apparently, it is now okay for the party in power to simply refuse to swear-in newly elected congresspeople in America from the other side. I haven’t heard any of our NM representatives speaking out about Mike Johnson refusing to swear-in the newly elected Democratic House member from Arizona. This is DISGUSTING. This is UN-AMERICAN. I expect our leaders to call out these atrocities swiftly and forcefully - and continue to do so until the issue is resolved. The people are weary. We are looking to the future scared, hopeless and powerless. It is up to you to give us a voice beyond screaming into online echo chambers. I trust you will read these words and become more forceful in opposition to this fascist regime.
