Every day the news and social media reports stories of egregious behavior by ICE agents. Every day we hear shocking attempts by the President, the Vice President, Cabinet members, and other elected officials as they attempt to derail or prejudice rightful efforts to investigate ICE actions and to hold those who violate our laws and Constitution accountable for their behavior. By now it should be clear that ICE agents are not enforcing the law in a manner that builds respect for the US and our institutions. ICE agents are not treating people with even the most basic respect due someone who is presumed innocent. ICE leadership is implicitly and explicitly condoning this. This is destroying our country. The actions of ICE from top to bottom are shredding the Bill of Rights and making a mockery on the rule of law. Please vote no on any budget bill that includes any funding for ICE. Please do everything in your power to hold ICE accountable to the very top: from agents on the street to Cabinet secretaries. Please make it clear that they are violating their oath to the Constitution and that there will be consequences – there have to be consequences.
