Congress and the public need clear answers regarding the disturbing reports of U.S. citizens being wrongfully detained and deported by immigration authorities. The fact that dozens of members of Congress have sought information about these unconstitutional actions, only to be met with silence from the administration, is deeply concerning. It suggests an unacceptable lack of transparency and accountability from agencies tasked with enforcing our nation's laws. The reports of U.S. citizens, including vulnerable groups like Puerto Ricans and Native Americans, being targeted for immigration enforcement are extremely troubling. Citizenship is supposed to protect against such treatment, yet we are seeing cases where even that core right is being violated. This administration's aggressive deportation goals and reported quotas for arrests appear to be enabling and encouraging these unlawful acts. I urge you to continue demanding full answers and a comprehensive accounting of how many U.S. citizens have been improperly swept up in the zeal for deportations. Citizens must not have their rights trampled in service of an enforcement agenda. The American people deserve honesty about what has occurred and assurances that Constitutional protections will be upheld going forward. Please use the full power of Congressional oversight to get the truth and hold responsible parties accountable.
