Democrats in Congress are at a disadvantage numerically when it comes to votes on Trump’s nominations. But that doesn’t mean you have to acquiesce and hope that Republican Senators will step up and oppose bad nominations. The power you and other Democrats still have – more now that you are in the minority – is to be loud and clear in your messages. Please state clearly that you oppose Kash Patel not because he’s “extreme” but because he has literally promised to abuse his power as soon as he’s sworn into office. He’s said that repeatedly over the last year. Avoid vague terms that the public doesn’t understand. Make it loud and clear that we don’t want an FBI director who has promised to abuse the powers of his office as soon as he’s sworn in. You all must say these things forcefully and simply because the media will not help you. We need to build up a stronger opposition party, and it starts with what you say. Please make it explicit and clear, so everyone can understand it.
