I am writing to demand a fundamental shift in how Michigan allocates our state resources, tax incentives, and public funds.
Our state tax dollars should be invested in protecting and sustaining our communities, not fueling global conflict. I urge you to immediately halt all state-backed economic incentives, grants, and partnerships with foreign defense contractors and military tech firms, including Israeli drone manufacturers like Capture Systems. Public funds should never subsidize weapons production or technologies linked to human rights abuses.
Instead, I demand that Michigan prioritize the fundamental rights of its residents by redirecting these economic resources into four critical areas:
• Healthcare Access: Fully fund community health centers, expand mental health resources, and lower prescription drug costs so every Michigander can receive quality medical care.
• Clean Water Infrastructure: Permanently resolve infrastructure crises, replace lead service lines statewide, and ensure clean, affordable, and safe drinking water is guaranteed to every household.
• Food Security: Expand local agricultural support, eliminate urban food deserts, and fortify school meal programs so no family or child goes hungry.
• Affordable Housing: Invest in public housing developments, expand tenant protections, and provide robust assistance programs to combat homelessness and skyrocketing rent.
Invest in life, health, and human dignity here at home. Stop funding the defense industry and start funding our communities.
