As the country withers away its social safety nets those that can move to better states, like MA, will. We need to anticipate that and start solving our problems yesterday. I 100% beleive we need a single payer universal system and I believe MA can be the origin of that in the US, but we need to plan for the rippling effects it will cause; housing, transportation, education, and senior services will need massive investments and in turn we will need to increase funding. It’s time to raise the Fair Share Amendment (currently only a 4% surtax on income over $1 million) and institute a tax on Fortune 500 companies operating in the state. Companies like Walmart, Amazon, etc underpay their workers, on top of abuse, thus increasing demand for welfare programs. These programs should get increased funding from a new tax on the same companies causing dependency.
