Please stop Trump from improperly diverting National Parks Service Funding to his grotesque vanity projects and monuments to himself in DC.
I am sure you are aware of all the details of the corrupt and botched interventions to the reflecting pool: the no-bid contract, the lack of expert advice, the catastrophic result. I am OUTRAGED by the extravagance and self-aggrandising pomposity.
And I was sure you see the wreckage of the East Wing Daily. What about the project to gild statues? Making statues gold while you cut snap? And the hideous eyesore of the planned triumphal arch? The costly and unnecessary repaving in the White House grounds?
Meanwhile the National Parks, one of our best loved national treasures are suffering terribly from funding cuts, visitors have even died as a result of cuts to regular staffing and upkeep.
Trump is a tenant not a king. The White House is not a palace.
Trump is incessantly violating the constitution by usurping Congress's power of appropriating.
Please use all the means at hand to stop Trump's vanity projects and restore the NPS:
Please: enforce
the Commemorative Works
Act. It explicitly requires congressional approval and a rigorous, independent review process before new national monuments or major memorial complexes can be built on the National Mall.
Use subpoenas, hearings, investigations and criminal referrals.
Legislate.
REFUSE to confirm ANY NOMINEES while these illegal construction stunts continue.
You have the power to bring this illegality to a halt. Use it.
Please also DEFUND these projects.
Block the siphoning of National Park entrance fees and Legacy Restoration.
All this talk about corruption and waste. The chief of corruption is Trump spending money that he's not allowed to spend to ruin our national parks and vandalise DC.
Trump's unlawful demolition of part of the White House is yet another high crime or misdemeanor; his impoundment of congressionally appropriated funds is also impeachable:
Please: DO YOUR JOB. STOP THIS NOW
