Ending the war in Iran should be an urgent priority. The conflict is very unpopular with Americans with nearly 6 in 10 Americans opposing the initial strikes and large majorities opposing sending ground troops. Americans across the political spectrum are wary of another prolonged Middle East war. More so because it began without clear goals or broad public support. Beyond the political reality at home, continuing this war risks damaging relationships with allies and destabilizing already fragile global security partnerships. Wars that lack international consensus often strain alliances and weaken the credibility the United States relies on to lead global coalitions. There are also serious military risks. Experts warn that sustained operations could deplete critical U.S. weapons stockpiles, including air-defense systems needed to protect U.S. forces and allies in other regions. At the same time, Iran has been targeting radar and missile-defense infrastructure, exposing vulnerabilities in systems designed to protect troops and civilians. A prolonged war could leave the U.S. less prepared to deter other major threats. The financial cost is also immense. Military campaigns drain billions of taxpayer dollars that could otherwise strengthen domestic priorities like infrastructure, healthcare, or education. War also drives global energy instability, increasing economic pressure on families and businesses. America is strongest when it combines diplomacy, alliances, and strategic restraint. Ending the war in Iran and prioritizing diplomatic solutions would reduce risks to U.S. troops, restore focus on global cooperation, and reflect the clear wishes of the American people.
