Compel Trump administration's compliance in Abrego Garcia deportation case

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Dingell, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Saline, MI

April 23

It is unacceptable that the Trump administration continues to defy court orders and obstruct justice in the case of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia's wrongful deportation to El Salvador. Judge Xinis rightly criticized the administration's "willful and bad faith refusal to comply with discovery obligations" and dismissed their claims of privilege as "specious." This flagrant disregard for the rule of law and judicial authority undermines the foundations of our democratic system. The administration must immediately provide all requested information about the circumstances surrounding Mr. Abrego Garcia's deportation and their efforts, if any, to secure his release from unjust detainment in El Salvador. Failing to do so by Judge Xinis's deadline should face appropriate sanctions for contempt of court. No administration is above the law. Continued stonewalling and defiance of legally binding orders cannot be tolerated. I urge you to use your authority to compel the Trump administration's full cooperation and transparency in this case. Upholding the integrity of our judicial system and defending constitutional principles must be a top priority. The American people deserve full accountability from this administration regarding its disturbing pattern of unlawful behavior.
