I am deeply concerned about the administration’s actions toward Venezuela and the way this situation is being presented to the public.
There has been no congressional authorization for U.S. military action, yet we are seeing military operations, deployments, and media narratives that appear designed to manufacture public consent after the fact. That is not how a constitutional democracy functions.
I am also alarmed by reports of misleading or recycled footage being circulated to suggest widespread public support or celebration in Venezuela. Manipulating imagery to sell an illegal or unauthorized conflict is unacceptable and erodes public trust.
Opposing an unauthorized war does not mean defending Nicolás Maduro. Two things can be true at once: Maduro is an illegitimate authoritarian leader, and the United States does not have the right to engage in military action without congressional approval.
I expect you to:
• Demand transparency about the legal authority being claimed
• Oppose any unauthorized military action
• Push back against disinformation used to justify escalation
• Reassert Congress’s constitutional role over war powers
The Constitution is not optional — especially when lives are at stake.
