Deeply concerned about FDA

To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Strickland

From: A verified voter in Olympia, WA

April 25

I am deeply concerned about what is happening with the FDA shutting down so many facilities. There have been so many recalls on food, and with the way our system is set up, there is truly no way for anyone anywhere in the country to be absolutely sure that they will be safe. We get our meat and produce all over the country. What happens if a state does not want to inspect a farm or facility to the same standard? Will it be inspected once it crosses the border to a state that does care about public health? How many people will fall sick or even die in the meantime? Nobody will be safe.
