NO to Mike Lee's "Border Lands Conservation Act," a bill for ruin & destruction

To: Sen. Collins, Rep. Golden, Sen. King

From: A verified voter in Lewiston, ME

November 5

Reject Sen. Mike Lee's "boundary waters conservation act." This dangerous new bill would dangerous new bill would open all federal lands within 100 miles of the U.S. border to roads, buildings, and motorized access. It would amend the Wilderness Act, giving Homeland Security authority over these areas and impacting more than 9.5 million acres of protected land - including parts of the Boundary Waters, Superior National Forest, and even reaching as far as Duluth. The bill would bring widespread irreparable devastation and ruin to our national lands and the Boundary waters. These are areas that we hold in trust for the future: a sacred trust. If passed, Mike Lee's Border Lands Conservation Act would: • Gut key Wilderness Act protections • Allow new roads, buildings, and motorized vehicle use in protected Wilderness areas • Station DHS agents in Wilderness areas as it deems necessary • Sideline the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management • Invite destructive development into one of our nation's most pristine landscapes. Vote no and speak out against this project of pillage and ruin.
