I am writing to demand that you immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump and Stephen Miller for threatening military aggression against Greenland and Denmark. This is not a request for consideration. This is a demand for action. On Friday, President Trump declared that the United States will "do something on Greenland whether they like it or not," explicitly threatening military force against a NATO ally to seize sovereign territory. When Greenland and Denmark rejected his demands, he stated he would pursue this "the hard way." Jacob Isbosethsen, Greenland's head of representation to the United States, unequivocally stated that "Greenland is not for sale" and that "our country belongs to the Greenlandic people." The President's response was to double down on threats of military conquest. This is an impeachable offense under any reasonable interpretation of the Constitution. Threatening to invade a peaceful democratic ally violates international law, the NATO treaty, the President's oath of office, and every principle this nation claims to uphold. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is meeting with Danish and Greenlandic officials next week because they requested an urgent meeting to address these threats. Our allies are terrified of the American President. Stephen Miller's influence in this administration has been catastrophic, and his removal is equally urgent. The pattern of authoritarian rhetoric and contempt for democratic norms must end immediately. Congress has the constitutional authority and obligation to act. You were elected to serve as a check on executive power, not to enable threats of military conquest against our allies. Every day you delay impeachment proceedings is a day you tacitly endorse this conduct. I expect you to publicly call for impeachment proceedings this week and to use every tool at your disposal to remove Trump and Miller from power. The Constitution demands it. Your constituents demand it. History will judge your response to this moment.
