Elon Musk's dual role as a private businessman and special government employee raises significant ethical concerns about conflicts of interest and potential self-dealing with taxpayer funds. The over $20 billion in federal contracts awarded to Musk's companies, coupled with his newly granted access to sensitive Treasury Department information and attempt to shut down USAID oversight, demonstrate an unacceptable mixing of private interests with public duties. Barring special government employees like Musk from receiving federal contracts is a commonsense measure to safeguard public funds and restore integrity in government spending decisions. As an elected representative, I urge you to support the ELON MUSK Act to ensure no individual can leverage an official position for personal financial gain at the expense of American taxpayers.
