An Urgent Request to Senate and House Leadership: ple emergency incident response. Include the bipartisan, bicameral Federal Wildland Firefighter pay adjustment in the next CR or Emergency Supplemental to stop a pay cliff that will crip dfire seasons each year, with the loss of life and property increasing at a phenomenal rate. 15,000 Federal Wildland Firefighters (WFFs) from the U.S. Forest Service (USDA) and Department of the Interior (DOI) endure longer and more dangerous wil Failing to act will mean that federal firefighters will endure a pay cut of up to 50% of base pay, up to $20,000. A temporary WFF pay adjustment has expired, putting our federal WFFs at risk. We have pending legislation that is a permanent fix to the WFF pay problem. As a Wildland Firefighter of 15 years I will be resigning immediately if a Pay Fix is not included in the next CR or budget passed by Congress. My family can no longer sustain a balanced lifestyle without this pay adjustment. We recall what liffe was like before we had the pay adjustment. It was very hard to pay our mortgage, buy groceries, put gas in the car. That was before we had a child. Now we will have to think about pulling him out of daycare, where he is flourishing. We also have another child on the way and our living situation will become more dire without this pay fix. Please pass a permanent pay fix in this CR.
