No American Boots On The Ground In Iran

To: Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey, Rep. Auchincloss

From: A constituent in Newton, MA

March 10

I am dead set against putting American boots on the ground in Iran, and this Congress needs to take action to stop it from happening. Please clearly communicate to the White House that this option should be off the table. Trump’s war against Iran is a war of choice, and one Americans did not choose. Large majorities of us oppose these strikes, and we sure as hell don’t want to get ourselves even further entangled.  Deploying our young men and women onto Iranian territory will mean more bloodshed on both sides, further complicate our efforts to end this conflict quickly and could lead to dangerous consequences this administration is obviously not ready to handle. The White House has made it shockingly clear that they have taken us into battle with no clear objectives and no strategy for getting us out. They keep promising this won’t be another Iraq, but they also pledged to avoid exactly this sort of military adventure and lied to us about why they did it. We’ve repeatedly seen reports that they are far more open to ground operations than they’re admitting to the public. It is incumbent on Congress to prepare for the worst and try to head it off at the pass, and putting our troops even more directly in harm’s way with a plan Trump and Hegseth are making up as they go along certainly qualifies. We’ve seen all this before. We just spent two decades with our troops killing and dying in forever wars in the Middle East. It cost us too many lives and too much money and gained us far too little. We are not going back to that. We’re counting on you to protect our troops.
