Condemn Trump's deference to Putin, uphold democracy and leadership.

The president's behavior in the Oval Office meeting with President Zelensky was deeply concerning and unbecoming of the nation's highest office. Lashing out at a wartime leader fighting for his country's survival does nothing to advance American interests or bring us closer to a sustainable peace. This appalling display follows a pattern of Trump deferring to Putin - excluding allies from negotiations, refusing to hold Russia accountable for its invasion, parroting Kremlin propaganda, attempting to extort Ukraine, and siding with Russia at the UN. Such actions undermine U.S. leadership, embolden our adversaries, and insult the sacrifices made by generations of Americans to build our nation's standing. We cannot allow the president's ego and authoritarian sympathies to continue jeopardizing our nation's security and democratic values. Firm steps must be taken to rein in this dangerous conduct and reaffirm America's commitment to freedom and human rights.
