Investigate the No-Bid Reflecting Pool Contract

To: Rep. DelBene, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Pres. Trump

From: A verified voter in Bothell, WA

May 10

Demand a full investigation into the $6.9 million no-bid contract Trump awarded to Atlantic Industrial Coatings to paint the Reflecting Pool — a company that had never won a federal contract before but had worked at one of his golf clubs. That contract is more than triple the $1.8 million Trump publicly promised, and the repairs are expected to last 7 to 10 years, not the 50 years he claimed. Trump bypassed the standard bidding process using an exemption designed to prevent "serious injury, financial or other, to the government" — the exact opposite of what happened here. Taxpayers got overcharged, a politically connected contractor got a windfall, and a motorcade Trump drove onto the pool may have damaged the very repairs this contract was supposed to protect. This is textbook self-dealing, and it demands answers. Who approved this exemption? Who selected this contractor? Hold public hearings and make the records available.
