The U.S. military must immediately halt its boat strike campaign in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. Since September, these operations have killed at least 168 people without trials, charges, or verified evidence of criminal activity. This is not law enforcement. It's extrajudicial execution.
The April 11 strikes killed five more people on boats the military claims were on "known narco-trafficking routes." No drugs were shown. No evidence was provided. The military simply labeled them "narco-terrorists" and fired. One person survived. In September, two survivors of an initial strike were killed in a follow-on attack that Democratic lawmakers who reviewed the footage called a potential war crime.
Calling alleged smugglers "unlawful combatants" doesn't erase their constitutional rights or international law protections. Families of two Trinidadian men killed in these strikes have filed suit arguing these killings lack legal justification. They're right.
You have the power to defund this program and demand accountability. No administration should have authority to kill people based solely on their location and unproven allegations. Vote to end funding for these operations and support congressional investigations into potential war crimes.
