Whitehouse.gov Is a Propaganda Machine. Taxpayers Fund It. Shut It Down.

April 12

The White House website now hosts a page called “January 6: A Date Which Will Live in Infamy” that calls convicted rioters “peaceful patriotic protesters” and claims Democrats “staged the real insurrection by certifying a fraud-ridden election.” 140 officers were injured that day. Courts rejected every fraud claim. The same website runs a “Media Offenders” page with a “Hall of Shame” that names individual reporters by name for coverage the administration dislikes. Reporters Without Borders called it an effort to “delegitimize the press.” In May 2025, the White House launched “WH Wire,” a taxpayer-funded news aggregation site that links almost exclusively to Fox News, Breitbart, and the White House’s own YouTube channel. The Atlantic called it “propagandistic.” Reporters Without Borders called it “taxpayer-funded propaganda.” The navigation bar on whitehouse.gov now includes links to “The Trump Gold Card” at trumpcard.gov, DHS’s “Arrested: Worst of the Worst,” and a page titled “Criminal Aliens Receiving Medicaid.” During the October 2025 government shutdown, HUD’s official website displayed a banner reading “The Radical Left are going to inflict massive pain on the American people.” The DOJ, SBA, USDA, and other agency websites posted similar partisan messages. Federal employees at the Departments of Labor, Education, and Veterans Affairs were directed to set auto-reply emails blaming Democrats. Twenty-four senators wrote to OMB Director Russ Vought calling this a violation of Section 715 of P.L. 118-47, which prohibits federal funds from being used for propaganda “designed to support or defeat legislation pending before Congress.” They cited likely violations of the Anti-Lobbying Act and the Hatch Act. The messages stayed up. No government in American history has used official agency websites to attack a political party by name. Governments that do this have a name. They are not democracies. Enforce Section 715 of P.L. 118-47. Hold hearings on the use of federal websites and employee communications for partisan messaging. Pass legislation requiring that official government websites be limited to factual, nonpartisan public information. Demand removal of the “Media Offenders” page, the January 6 revisionist page, and all partisan content from .gov domains. Taxpayers fund these websites. They belong to the public. Not to a campaign.
