Reimpose full sanctions on Russian and Iranian oil immediately. Every dollar from oil sales funds Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Iran's support for proxy wars across the Middle East. Relaxed enforcement of oil sanctions has allowed both regimes to rebuild their war chests. Russia continues to slaughter Ukrainian civilians and destroy critical infrastructure. Iran supplies drones to Russia and weapons to militant groups destabilizing the region. American policy should not enable either government to profit from energy exports while they wage war. The current approach fails. Restore maximum pressure on both countries' oil sectors. Cut off their primary revenue source for military operations. This is the most effective non-military tool we have to constrain their ability to sustain these conflicts.
