I am writing to demand that you take immediate action to ABOLISH U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This agency is not broken. It is functioning exactly as it was designed to: as an instrument of racial terror, authoritarian overreach, and systemic cruelty.
A masked ICE agent just murdered a legal observer and mother, Renee Nicole Good, in Minneapolis as she was following orders after exerting her first amendment right to record an abduction by masked men and to verbally oppose their actions.
ICE is a rogue institution. Its existence depends on criminalizing migration, targeting marginalized communities, and operating beyond the limits of constitutional law. From ripping children from their parents’ arms to detaining people indefinitely in for-profit prisons rife with abuse, ICE has made itself synonymous with human rights violations. This is not law enforcement. This is state-sanctioned violence.
There is no reforming ICE. It is a stain on this country’s conscience and a monument to post-9/11 fear-mongering. The billions funneled into its bloated budget every year serve no purpose but to terrorize families, embolden white supremacy, and feed private prison corporations. Meanwhile, everyday people struggle to access housing, healthcare, education, and clean air—needs that could actually be met with those same funds.
If Congress continues to fund ICE, it is complicit in its crimes. You cannot claim to stand for justice, dignity, or democracy while voting to sustain an agency that openly violates all three.
We demand abolition—not just of ICE, but of the entire violent infrastructure it represents. Invest in communities, not cages. End this now.
