Please do not mistake my support for Democrats as automatic approval of the same leadership. I oppose Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker or House Democratic leader and Chuck Schumer for Senate Democratic leader. It is time to pass the microphone—and the power.
We keep asking people to show up, vote, organize, and demand change. Then, when it is time to choose leadership, suddenly we cannot seem to find anybody new. Surely a party this large has more than two options.
I want leaders who answer to constituents. AIPAC’s influence concerns me, and I expect transparency about donor relationships and how they affect policy decisions. The people casting the ballots deserve more consideration than the people writing the checks.
And if Democratic leaders are meeting with Jared Kushner, I expect a clear explanation of the purpose and what was discussed. “Trust us” is not enough. Trust requires accountability.
This is bigger than age. It is about judgment, independence, and knowing when to make room. Experience has value, but leadership is not a lifetime appointment.
Please use your influence and any applicable leadership vote to support new leadership. We need people willing to fight for affordable healthcare, economic security, and civil rights with the urgency these issues deserve.
I would appreciate a direct response stating where you stand. A form letter reminding me that you value my concerns will not answer the question.
