As your constituent, I demand you to support new leadership for Senate Democrats. The recent capitulation to the GOP, especially the failure to extend ACA subsidies, is unacceptable. This decision could result in up to 51,000 preventable deaths annually and impose severe financial strain on those who remain insured. It’s suspicious that all eight Democrats who supported this deal are not up for reelection next year. That raises serious questions: either Senator Schumer lacks control over his caucus and should be replaced for weak leadership, or he orchestrated this outcome, using senators not up for election next year to push through this horrendous surrender. In either case, he must be removed. The fallout is already evident. Many voters I know are now committed to primarying any Democrat who supported this deal. Trust in the party is destroyed, and the momentum from last Tuesday’s elections has been eliminated. Do what’s right: remove Senator Schumer and endorse a stronger, more principled Democrat to lead the Senate.
