This is a direct message to every lawmaker in Albany and the Governor: the time for hiding behind "process" and "neutrality" is over. We are in an absolute state of emergency and if you don’t use every single power at your disposal, including drawing the most aggressive maps possible, you are choosing to let democracy die! We all know gerrymandering is usually the villain of the story, but right now, it is the only weapon we have left to fight back. You cannot keep playing by a rulebook that the other side already threw in the trash. While New York tries to be "fair" with independent commissions, other states are systematically rigging their maps to permanently silence the majority of this country. If you sit on your hands and play nice, you aren't being noble; you’re being complicit. We are bringing a toothpick to a total war. Every seat we lose to "fairness" here is a seat handed over to people who don't even believe in the validity of our elections. It is a mathematical suicide pact. The situation is too extreme for half-measures or moral posturing. We need maps that solidify a pro-democracy wall, period. If that means aggressive redistricting to balance out the national scales, then do it. I’d rather deal with the messy optics of a carved-up district than the total collapse of our rights because we were too scared to get our hands dirty. You have a mandate to protect us. Stop worrying about the "integrity" of the lines and start worrying about the integrity of the Republic. Act now, draw the lines, and stop the bleeding before there is no democracy left to defend. There are no prizes for losing "fairly" in a rigged system. Draw the maps and save the country!
