Reject undemocratic court access limitations, protect judicial system integrity

To: Sen. Hagerty, Sen. Blackburn, Rep. Burchett

From: A constituent in Knoxville, TN

June 19, 2025

The proposed Republican legislation poses a grave threat to the fundamental right of every American to seek justice through our courts. By requiring exorbitant bond payments that could reach into the millions or billions of dollars, this bill would effectively bar average citizens from challenging unlawful or unconstitutional actions by the federal government. This blatant attempt to insulate the administration from accountability and judicial oversight must be condemned in the strongest terms. Equal access to the judicial system is a cornerstone of our democracy, ensuring that the rights of all are protected regardless of wealth or status. Denying this access would not only enable unchecked abuses of power but also erode public trust in our institutions. I urge you to reject this undemocratic measure and uphold the sacred principles of due process, checks and balances, and equal protection under the law that define our nation. The courts must remain open and accessible to all Americans seeking to vindicate their constitutional rights.
