Restrict the ability of payment processors to censor content online.

To: Rep. Lynch, Sen. Warren, Sen. Markey

From: A constituent in Brockton, MA

March 11

Hello, I am writing you to ask that you introduce legislation to force payment processors to treat all legal transactions equally. Payment processors like Visa and Mastercard have grown too powerful in the modern economy, and are now using that power to silence small creators by telling platforms what content they can host and allow users to monetize, especially when it comes to works of art that are meant for adult consumption and are completely legal. What adults choose to spend their money on should be between them and the merchant they choose to purchase from, and payment processors should not be allowed to restrict legal purchases for any reason. Please protect artists and authors and creators of all kinds and force payment processors to treat all legal transactions fairly.
