Repeal the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act

To: Sen. Slotkin, Rep. Thanedar, Sen. Peters

From: A constituent in Hamtramck, MI

December 21

Before 1994, manufacturers had to prove herbal products were safe before selling them. That changed after Congress passed the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. The law sharply limited the FDA’s authority on supplements. Supplements have been shown to have harmful amounts of lead and toxic substances They are also, largely, unnecessary. Supplements are necessary for those who have diagnosed medical conditions. This law purely exists to assist a sham business model and sonetinesactively hurts consumers. They must undergo strict FDA regulation to ensure their safety. Please repeal the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. Thank you
