Reply to your message about DOGE

Thank you for your reply to my messages. I understand that you feel supportive of this administration, as it aligns with your party. But I can’t help but wonder if that is what is blinding you to the clear abuses of power and conflicts of interest in Elon Musk’s involvement in DOGE. If President Biden had said, “I’ve asked George Soros to take a look at all government agencies and personnel, and have given him unrestricted access to all our data so he can cut fraudulent spending. Don’t worry, he will be sure to let us know if he has any conflicts of interest! Trust me!” Would you be equally supportive of that effort? No. It would be suspicious! You would want oversight, reporting, and honest receipts! That is what we are asking for. We can all agree that we do not want waste or fraud in our government. But if we want an audit, we need auditors, not tech billionaires and interns who go by “Big Balls” online. With all due respect, that’s insane. DOGE has had to remove the top 5 reported saving receipts from their website after it was discovered they were inaccurate. DOGS has had to rehire thousands of federal employees after realizing they were fired in error. Please explain to me in what world this is efficient. I do believe we share common hopes for America: freedom and dignity for all, justice, fiscal responsibility, efficiency, and an America that is a “shining city on a hill” on the world’s stage. I hope we can work toward a shared vision together. But it will require a critical eye toward our fellow representatives actions, even they are members of our own party. I hope to see you requesting transparency from DOGE. As you said, you have experience with cutting expenses, so I am sure your perspective would be instructive. And one last point. I keep hearing Republicans use the line, “the people overwhelmingly voted for Trump and that’s a mandate for his policies.” But this claim doesn’t stand up to the math. Out of 340.1 million Americans, only 73.6 million voted for Trump this past November. This means 266.5 million people decided they would rather stay home or vote for a candidate other than Trump. Republicans have almost all jumped on board with Trump. But stating that all Americans support Trump is disingenuous at best, and intentional disinformation at worst. Be best.
