The Senate Finance Committee hearing today has raised serious concerns about Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s qualifications to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services. His long history of anti-vaccine advocacy and promotion of conspiracy theories calls into question his ability to lead federal health agencies in an evidence-based and scientifically sound manner. Furthermore, his lack of knowledge about key healthcare programs like Medicare and Medicaid is deeply troubling given the broad oversight he would have over these crucial services. As Secretary, Kennedy would oversee agencies responsible for public health, medical research, food and drug safety, and access to affordable healthcare for millions of Americans. His conflicting views on issues like abortion rights and continued financial ties to lawsuits against vaccine makers present unacceptable conflicts of interest. The American people deserve a Health Secretary committed to advancing public health based on facts and science, not personal beliefs that contradict established medical consensus. I urge you to thoroughly examine Kennedy's record and testimony and reject his nomination in order to protect the integrity of the Department of Health and Human Services and uphold the nation's public health priorities. We cannot afford to have someone who has trafficked in disinformation and junk science leading healthcare policy for our country. Please put public health over politics and demand a qualified nominee truly fit for this vital role.
