Urgent Request for Action: Protecting Electoral Integrity in Missouri

To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley, Rep. Burlison

From: A constituent in Kirbyville, MO

October 21, 2025

I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent and a patriotic American who values the fundamental principles of our Republic: the rule of law and accountable governance. I urge you to look beyond political allegiances and commit unequivocally to defending the integrity of our elections. The continuous erosion of public trust in our electoral process is deeply alarming. We must urgently address three critical areas of vulnerability: 1. Fair Representation and Gerrymandering: Aggressive attempts to systematically draw legislative maps to favor one party threaten the principle of fair representation and violate the trust citizens place in their vote. We must support efforts to ensure fair, non-partisan districting that truly reflects the will of the people. 2. Protection of Election Personnel: Election officials and poll workers—the non-partisan administrators of our democracy—are facing unprecedented threats, harassment, and political targeting. The stated intent to pursue legal action against these essential civil servants simply because results are unfavorable must be unequivocally denounced. We need clear plans to shield these individuals from intimidation. 3. Civilian Control and Unconstitutional Overreach: The mere consideration of using the National Guard or other military assets to interfere with domestic elections or civil discourse is a dangerous and unconstitutional overreach. This violates the core American tradition of civilian control over the military and sets a terrible, authoritarian precedent. As my elected representative, your highest duty is to the Constitution. I ask you: What specific, actionable plans do you have to reinforce the constitutional guardrails of our election system and protect your constituents from any administration that attempts to exercise unchecked political power over our democratic process? I urge you to stand firmly for the founding principles of a transparent, honest, and secure Republic.
