I am very thankful for Representative Randall's efforts to hold ICE accountable, but in the capitol and in Washington state. I wish my Senators were similarly engaged with finding ways to (re)assert the authority of Congress as a co-equal branch of government and to find ways to resist. We can't wait till the mid-terms.
The killing of Renee Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday and the shootings of two people in Portland by U.S. Customs & Border Protection agents last night are horrifying reminders of the crisis in our country being exacerbated every day by the actions of President Trump and Kristi Noem. The refusal of the federal government to collaborate with local law enforcement and the refusal of House Republicans to allow oversight is an unexcusable dereliction of their duty and a disgrace to our country. I hope that the whole Washington Congressional delegation will work together to stop this lawless behavior and hold the perpetuators accountable.
