As a mom and civil servant working in education, I am deeply concerned about the Project 2025 agenda, which represents a devastating attack on public education and the students it serves. Eliminating vital programs like Title I and Head Start would strip resources from the most vulnerable students, worsening achievement gaps and teacher shortages in high-poverty schools. The plan to dismantle the Department of Education and pursue a federal voucher scheme mirrors failed state-level efforts that defunded public schools to subsidize private education. Additionally, enshrining censorship, book bans, and discrimination against LGBTQ+ students into federal policy is an unconscionable violation of civil rights. I implore you to reject this extremist agenda that undermines our children's futures and the foundation of our democracy. Public schools must be strengthened, not decimated, through increased investment in their success.
