This Trump Insurrection Day, you can do your job to prevent another!

January 6
January 6 was not a misunderstanding. It was not a protest that “got out of hand.” It was a violent insurrection against the United States of America — against the Constitution you swore an oath to defend. And your failure to fully act since then has left this nation dangerously exposed. The American people watched in horror as a sitting president incited a mob, lied about an election, and unleashed violence on the U.S. Capitol to overturn the will of voters. We watched police officers beaten. We watched lawmakers flee for their lives. We watched democracy attacked in real time. And yet, years later, the conditions that allowed January 6 to happen still exist. The same lies are being repeated. The same extremist networks remain active. The same officials who enabled or excused the violence remain in positions of power. That is unacceptable. Congress has a constitutional duty to protect this nation from enemies foreign and domestic. That duty does not expire because action is politically uncomfortable. It does not disappear because accountability might upset donors, colleagues, or a former president. You must act — decisively and immediately — to prevent another January 6. That means: • Strengthening and enforcing laws against election subversion • Holding every official accountable who aided, encouraged, or excused the insurrection • Ensuring clear consequences for attempts to overturn certified elections • Confronting domestic extremism with the seriousness it deserves • Publicly rejecting and condemning political violence — without hedging, excuses, or cowardice Democracy does not survive on speeches and commemorations alone. It survives on action, accountability, and the rule of law. If Congress continues to hesitate, delay, or look the other way, you are not neutral. You are complicit. The American people should never again fear that their own government will turn against them. We should never again watch a mob storm the Capitol while leaders debate whether defending democracy is politically convenient. January 6 must be the last time this happens — not because we were lucky, but because you finally did your job. History is watching. The Constitution is watching. And the people you serve are watching. Act January 6 was not a misunderstanding.
