I am writing to urge you to immediately intervene to stop the Trump administration from dismantling the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado. NCAR is a critical national asset. Its work underpins accurate weather forecasting, severe storm prediction, wildfire modeling, and aviation and public safety planning nationwide. Breaking it apart or defunding it for ideological reasons would directly weaken our ability to protect lives, property, and the economy. Congress funds NCAR. Congress has oversight responsibility. If the administration is attempting to dismantle it, Congress must act now to block that effort and make clear that science serving public safety is not optional or expendable. Please use your authority to protect NCAR and publicly oppose any attempt to dismantle it.
